‘C’
Grade FG (flat-grain) | Monticello |
This
grade is a choice quality, reasonably clear grade which has
allowed prior selection of vertical grain, yielding a predominately
flat grain (FG) face. This grade admits defects of:
Limited
small sound or firm knots no larger that 1-1/2 inches, light
pitch and pitch pockets, light stain not exceeding 15 percent
of each piece, light to medium warp, crook or bow, moisture
content targeted 8-12 percent.

This
grade is a choice quality, reasonably clear grade which has not
allowed prior selection of vertical grain, yielding a predominately
vertical grain (VG) face. This grade admits defects of:
Limited

piece, light to medium warp, crook or bow, moisture content targeted

Grade MG (mixed grain)

This
grade is chosen for knots and various other character identities.
This product will contain both flat grain (FG) and limited vertical
grain (VG), yielding what we call mixed grain (MG). There are
no percentage provisions for either, as it is represented as a
mix. This grade admits to defects and knot structure of:
Some
decay in streaks of heart, knots sound or firm or filled and must
be suitable for ordinary use without breaking, knot
size
up to 3-12 /inches , no limit to the number of face knots, no
limit to pitch and pitch pockets, light to medium warp, crook
or bow, moisture content targeted 8-12 percent. |

Heart Loblolly MG Pine | Williamsburg Reserve, Chesapeake, Blue Ridge, Shockoe Slip |
The
heart content in this new or second growth product comes from
trees Loblolly pine approximately 60 years or younger. It is a
faster growing specie than that of both old growth Longleaf and
reclaimed Antique heart pine. The heart content is no less than
35 percent of total face coverage with an average of fifty percent
or higher. |

Old
growth Longleaf MG | Belle Grove |
Not
to be mistaken for reclaimed Antique heart pine, comes from old
growth Longleaf pine. The maturity of these tress is approximately
80-100 years, verses 200 years or older in the reclaimed Antique
heart pine. Heart content of the old growth Longleaf is approximately
75-100 percent and offers an abundance of vertical grain (VG)
pieces. |
