Belle
Grove Plantation was an 18th-century grain and livestock farm
located in the Shenandoah Valley near Middletown, Virginia. In
its prime (circa 1815), it encompassed about 7,500 acres of land.
The unique limestone house was completed in 1797 for Major Isaac
Hite and his wife Nelly, sister of future President James Madison.
During the Civil War, Belle Grove was at the center of the decisive
Battle of Cedar Creek. Today, the plantation includes the main
house and gardens, original outbuildings, a classic 1918 barn,
an overseer's house, the slave cemetery, a heritage apple orchard,
fields and meadows, and scenic mountain views.
Belle
Grove Old Growth Heart Pine flooring is harvested from
aged longleaf Pine trees and has an antique look for a lot less
cost. While the sap wood stays light, the heart of the wood oxidizes
to a medium amber color over time, setting nature’s paint-brush
into motion. There is nothing like watching a floor get increasingly
beautiful as it ages as happens with old growth Heart Pine. As
with all of our flooring products, Belle Grove Heart Pine is American
grown, American made, and a true monument to our American heritage.
