Chesapeake
Bay is a translation of the Powhatan Indian word "chesepiooc"
, meaning "Great Shellfish Bays."
At the time of the first European settlement, this tidewater area
was inhabited by an estimated 13,000 to 14,000 Powhatan Indians.
Since those early explorations, the bay waters have been traveled
by all manner of ships, often ones specifically designed or modified
to sail the Chesapeake's shallow waters. The first light house
built by the United States was built in 1792 at Cape Henry, marking
the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay.
Chesapeake
Character Grade Pine flooring is a traditional country-rustic
look that adds warmth and charm to any home. A light butterscotch
stain is just darker than natural and mellows the dark to light
transitions of the wood. Plank Pine is a fit for the mountain
cabin or the up-town loft, the colonial mansion or the weekend
condo. Shortleaf, Loblolly Pine has been a staple home interior
since the Pioneer days. As with all of our flooring products,
Chesapeake is American grown, American made, and a true monument
to our American heritage.
